DirecTV Vs. Dish Network

DirecTV Vs. Dish Network
By [http://ezinearticles.com/?expert=Jay_Carmichael]Jay Carmichael

In the North American world of satellite TV, there are only two major players in the high tech arena of Satellite TV. DirecTV and Dish Network. This revelation begs the following question, DirecTV vs. Dish Network, which is right for me? Read the following article with your pen in hand. Use the following information to discover which service will best suit your needs.

Both DirecTV and Dish Network are very similar with great products and top notch customer service but there are several notable differences that should be mentioned. First is the pricing structure. Dish network is set up to be a little cheaper to enter while DirecTV is designed to offer more choice. Direct TV has been around longer while boasting a larger user base than Dish Network. DirecTV does also offer some exclusive programming that dish network can not offer such as the NFL Sunday Ticket package, TV One, Fine Living, Fox Reality, and PBS Kids. The NFL Sunday Ticket Package offers a great view of just about every NFL football game in the season, however, Dish network does a good job at hitting the more common channels for a decent price.

Now, let us get to what this is really about, bring on the channels!

Dish Network Packages

Americas top 60: 60 Chan / $26.99 month / $31.99 with local

America's Top 60 Plus: 90+ Chan / $36.99 with locals

Americas top 120 : 120+ Chan / 37.99 / 42.99 with locals

Americas top 180 : 180+ Chan / $47.99 / $52.99 with locals

America's "Everything" Pak : 230+ Chan / 81.99 / 86.99 with locals

Direct TV

Total Choice: 135 Chan / 41.99 with locals

Total Choice Plus: 155+ Chan / 45.99 with locals

Total Choice Premier: 215+ Chan / 93.99 with locals

As you see, Dish Network gives an overall cheaper entry product while DirecTV offers more channels, but which is a better deal? In order to answer this question, I will take both service's entry level product and divide the price by the number of channels offered to see what I call "the more channels per dollar number". To make this comparison more accurate, I am using the price that includes local channels. This is because Direct TV offers free local channels in all of its Total Choice packages.

Dish network’s entry level package with local channels is $31.99 for over 60 channels which is .53 cents a channel per month. DirecTV offers 135 channels at $41.99 which comes in at .31 cents per channel per month. So my interpretation of the numbers amounts to the following. If price is your biggest concern, and you are happy with the basic lineup, go with Dish Network. If you want a lot of channels with the best bang for your buck, you can’t go wrong with DirecTV.

Satellite TV Ratings

Satellite TV Ratings
By [http://ezinearticles.com/?expert=Jordan_Michael]Jordan Michael

What are the advantages of having a satellite TV rather than getting a cable connection? As many of the consumers said that if you are living in rural areas, getting a cable connection wouldn't likely be possible. In this situation, satellite TV is the only option. But if you live in the city, cable connections are available. Also satellite TV in rural areas gain good signal strength. So many will still go for that option.

Satellite TV can provide their viewers with tons of channels, exceptional radio stations, and also you may be able to view the programming schedules in advance. You can also check out your daily horoscope or weather forecast and even put up your name, channel or show and it will all show up. Cable connections cost higher than satellite TV but you are getting less than what you are paying for with cable connection so most believed that it is better to switch with satellite TV. With satellite TV you may be able to receive over 500 channels.

If you are watching on a satellite TV, you will notice a big difference compared to cable. The picture quality is definitely better than with cable. You won't get an analog snow, or power bars that comes from over-amping but only you'll get clear digital audio and picture.

If you own a generator, you don't need to worry if there are interruptions such as bad weather cutting off the power because you will still be able to watch TV when you have satellite TV. But the problem that you may encounter with satellite TV is during terrible weather. When you are experiencing heavy rain or strong snow the signal that the satellite is giving might degrade considerably relying on the location that you are in.

With satellite TV having digital technology, you won't have to deal with conventional wiring connections because it is not capable of upholding digital signals. Satellite TV is being broadcasted directly on homes with satellite TV connections but those who are subscribed with cable has their signals passing first to cable suppliers' equipment before reaching your cables at home. Therefore why settle with old style cabling when you can have your own satellite dish.

With satellite TV you will only have to contact the provider, then the channels that you want to view will be unlocked in a few minutes without having to jerk with the equipment. What you will also find with satellite TV is that you can watch big gaming events. And with satellite TV you are able to keep up with the news and weather forecast of a particular area. And off course satellite connection is also far way cheaper than cable.

The only problem that you would encounter with the use of a satellite connection is if there is a storm because the lightning will cause interference. The satellite will also have problems when there are thick clouds because the signals can pass through and may take a few moments to reload. For this matter both cable and satellite TV may experience unreliability but generally, satellite TV is the way to go.

What Satellite Internet Service Can Do For You

What Satellite Internet Service Can Do For You
By [http://ezinearticles.com/?expert=Stephen_Long]Stephen Long

Do you live in rural America outside of your local Cable or DSL provider and can't get connected to the Internet?

Many of our rural areas do not have immediate access to the Internet through their local cable provider. These providers work on Supply and Demand. If there is not a high demand for high speed in your neighborhood, they will not install the DSL or Cable landlines in your area for you to access the Internet.

Perhaps your local provider is being bought out by another provider that does not support cable or DSL. What they may offer is a later date connection on their own Scheduled for future installs, they work on their own contracted dates, even if there is a high demand. Meaning you could be waiting over a year for high-speed access.

There is a answer to the problem. It's called Satellite Internet Access. How this works is very much like Satellite television. With Satellite Internet service, you are receiving a direct feed from your Providers Satellite directly into your own home.

Your home is installed with the proper satellite equipment and a receiver that feeds directly to a Satellite in space. This gives you direct access to the Internet through a satellite signal, the signal than transmits back to your receiver. The signals are transmitted much like a cell phone and any other mobile devices.

There are two types of transmitters, the One-way and the Two Way. We highly suggest installing a 2-way Satellite Internet service. What that means is, unlike the one way, which feeds the outgoing signal through a telephone landline and then to your providers Server, then to the Satellite, back to your home PC.

The 2-way Satellite directly transmits the signal to the Satellite and directly back to your home. With the properly installed equipment, it is as simple as click and go. This device will provide you with the most direct and fastest way to obtain access to the Internet.

The 2-way satellite system is an upgrade compared to the 1-way in costs; however, you are receiving a direct signal, which is well worth the speed and resolution. The Satellite dish will need to face in the direction of the South. You may experience some interference with your satellite signal depending on weather. However, more often than not, you should be online 24/7.

2-way satellite Internet service provides you the high-speed broadband Internet access solution that you have been waiting for.

Put an end to your slow Internet access. [http://www.wildbluesatellite.net]Wild Blue Satellite Internet access is your best choice to bring you [http://www.wildbluesatellite.net]high speed internet access.

Satellite Radio Guide For Novice Users

Satellite Radio Guide For Novice Users
By [http://ezinearticles.com/?expert=Sardool_Sikandar]Sardool Sikandar

A satellite radio or subscription radio (SR) is a digital radio that receives signals broadcast by communications satellite that covers a much wider geographical range than normal radio signals.

The satellite radios function anywhere there is line of sight between the antenna and the satellite, given there are no major obstructions, such as tunnels or buildings. SR audiences can follow a single channel regardless of location within a given range.

As the technology requires access to a commercial satellite for signal propagation, SR services are commercial business entities (not private parties), which offer a package of channels as part of their service —requiring a subscription from end users to access its channels.

The satellite radios use the 2.3GHz S band in North America, and generally shares the 1.4GHz L band with local Digital Audio Broadcast (DAB) stations elsewhere. It is a type of direct broadcast satellite, and is strong enough that it requires no satellite dish to receive. Curvature of the Earth limits the reach of the signal, but due to the high orbit of the satellites, two or three are usually sufficient to provide coverage for an entire continent.

Presently, the main radio satellite service provider in Europe, Asia and Africa is WorldSpace. WorldSpace has its own satellites covering most of Europe, Asia and Africa.

XM Satellite Radio and Sirius Satellite Radio are the two radio satellite gains in the United States and entire North America. A monthly fee is charged for both services. Sirius offers a one time fee plan of nearly $500 valid for the lifetime of the equipment. These offer the news, weather, sports, and several music channels.

The Canadian Radio-television and Telecommunications Commission (CRTC) commenced the Canada's first satellite radio operations on November 1, 2004.

How Does Satellite Radio Work

How Does Satellite Radio Work?
By [http://ezinearticles.com/?expert=Ian_Henman]Ian Henman

There’s been a big push in the consumer electronics industry lately. It’s been the movement towards satellite radio, but one of the biggest questions being asked is how does this technology work?

How do you get all of these fantastic stations tuned into one satellite radio receiver? There’s a lot more going on behind the scenes then just clicking the on button. How is it possible the signal can be so crystal clear?

Well first off you need to decide on a provider. IN the US there are two main providers: XM radio and Sirius. Each station provides fantastic satellite radio programming, and the way each service works is very similar so there isn’t a big learning curve between the two. How ever the type of programming that each provider offers varies, so depending on your listening habits you should consider this closely. In Canada XS is currently the only provider available. Hence there really isn’t a big choice for you to make there.

After you’ve decided on a provider you need to run down to your local consumer electronics store and pick up a satellite radio receiver, or purchase one online. The Satellite radio itself is the second most important component in the system, and in discovering how satellite radio works.

Different satellite radio receivers are designed to unscramble signals that are sent from satellites orbiting earth. Each satellite radio service launches satellites into orbit; the provider will then send encrypted signals to each satellite. These orbiting satellites send the signals back down to us. When a subscriber selects a particular satellite station their radio receiver the radio decodes the signal sent from the satellite and provides the requested station.

So you can see that satellite radio behaves similarly to traditional radio. A signal is broadcast, and our radios at home and in our cars pick it up. However traditional signals are broadcast over the airwaves while satellite radio is provided via the satellites in space. Unlike traditional radio, which at times isn’t the cleanest sound, satellite radio provides users with a clear sound no matter how far away from their local city they are. There is minimal range limit with a satellite radio signal, so it’s possible to continue to listen to the exact same station almost no anywhere.

Watch Satellite TV Online

Watch Satellite TV Online
By [http://ezinearticles.com/?expert=Anthony_Lee]Anthony Lee

An area being ventured into by Satellite providers is 'Online Satellite TV' which allows a viewer to view online content streamed directly from a Satellite. And the good news is, some website offer the service either free or for a small fee.

There is a wide variety of online Satellite content providers primarily from the US and Europe.

Unlike with a standard Satellite subscription, you no longer need to install a dish to receive the transmissions from the Satellite. The receiving station does all this work for you by acting as the recipient of the satellites transmission and then they stream the broadcast on the web for your convenience.

All you need is your home PC and broadband connection and you should be good to go!

Although your PC has to meet the minimum requirements since most Satellite feeds are LIVE streaming video. This demands a mid to high-end video graphics card and at least 512 MB of memory to handle the transmission load.

Your broadband connection should also be adequate enough to carry the load. If you can get a bandwidth of at least 700kb to 1 Mb from your broadband provider, that would be better.

If you are going to use a PC, make sure that you're using an updated Operating system so that you get better picture quality. The more updated your operating system is, the better video drivers will be available on the PC. This will result in a crisper, fuller video image on the screen.

Online Satellite TV also offers a variety of content to suit each viewer's preference. From TV shows, Music videos, documentaries, and even live footage of news clips you will find them all online streamed via satellite.

There is also a host of satellite viewing software that you can download from the Internet free of charge. Once it's set you can go and watch all the Satellite TV you can handle at no additional cost.

The other added benefit of viewing Satellite TV online is its better video quality. And as long the signal from the broadcasting website has a clear line of sight to the sending satellite, you should be able to get hours of free, uninterrupted, high quality video on your desktop PC!

Acne Solutions From TV

Acne Solutions From TV
By [http://ezinearticles.com/?expert=Thomas_Middleton]Thomas Middleton

How many times have you been staying up late and night and have seen a commercial for an acne treatment product that seems to wonderful and perfect that it's almost too good to be true? Well unfortunately it probably is. Acne solutions from TV are generally not that reliable. For example, let's use the acne treatment product Pro Active. This acne product boasts great results with hundreds even thousands of people, including sexy starlet Jessica Simpson, who is the main spokesperson for the product. It's important to remember that the testimonials given on these products are people who are being paid to do so.

If you want to know which acne treatment products advertised on TV really work, then hit the internet, it is there you will find the truth. You might have to do a little bit of searching around, but eventually you will come to a site that will give you honest testimonials and opinions on the product that you are considering. Never go to the product's main website for information or opinions on it, because of course they are going to try to make their product look at attractive as possible, it's all part of the world of marketing.

I have yet to see a commercial or website for an acne treatment product that says one single bad thing about their product. Realistically, no one product works for everyone and any company or commercial that tells you otherwise it just flat out lying. Just remember not to be too naive when it comes to people trying to sell you their products, their bottom line is to make as much money and possible and don't ever think otherwise. You have to be wise when it comes to how you spend your money and take care of your skin so don't succumb to just any commercial out there.

Despite the great things people say about some acne products, I have found that most acne treatments simply did not work for me.

But after years of struggling to get rid of my acne, I finally found something that was able to almost completely cure my acne in less than a week.

Truck Satellite Antenna

There are two types of truck satellite antennas. The first type is designed for receiving satellite radio while the second type is designed for connecting you to the Internet. Before you go shopping, you will want to make sure that you know which type of truck satellite antenna is appropriate for the type of signals you want to send and receive and what antenna is appropriate for your vehicle.

The first type of truck satellite antenna that you can buy is for satellite radio. When shopping for this type of antenna you will want to take several things into consideration. These things include: what satellite carrier you subscribe to, what type of vehicle you have and what company manufactured your vehicle. Some of the satellite radio service providers you can buy antennas from include Sirius and XM.

If you need more than just music from your truck satellite antenna then you will want to shop for a satellite dish antenna. To get the right dish antenna for your vehicle you will want to talk with your satellite internet service provider. They will either provide you with the correct satellite antenna, or they will tell you where you buy one. None of the top three satellite internet service providers currently offer mobile internet service. To get this you will need to work with Ground Control, MotoSat or MobilSat.

Truck satellite antennas designed for satellite internet come in two formats, affixed and portable. Most people select the affixed models, however, HughesNet now offers a portable truck satellite antenna that provides mobility and performance making the portable version a better choice for truckers and travelers. HughesNet’s portable antenna is called MotoSat. It uses DataStorm software to keep the mobile satellite pointed in the right direction.

When you are on the road you can feel detached from your family, friends and business. Fortunately you now have access to satellite internet and radio service. All you need to get connected is a service provider, a modem and a truck satellite antenna. Stay connected to the media sources of your choice with RV satellite antennas. Choose from satellite radio, satellite cable and satellite internet antennas. Understand your broadband internet satellite dish by learning about its components.
